A soaring residential skyscraper along Central Park South, One57 is a quintessentially New York property. So when a Silicon Valley tech investor purchased a condo on one of the building’s upper floors, he reached out to Decor Aid, and tasked us with creating an interior worthy of this landmark residence.
Upon arriving at the space, we knew that one of the apartment’s defining features, floor-to-ceiling windows with a view of Central Park, would be our seminal design inspiration and our greatest design challenge. We resolved to create a contemporary, eclectic and colorful space, with low-profile silhouettes to emphasize the view.
Starting in the living room, we sourced a sofa, coffee table and arm chairs from Holly Hunt. Adding in a sumptuous area rug from ABC Carpet set the stage for a compelling, classic and contemporary neutral palette. A duet of orange leather table lamps from Armani/Casa add a dash of orange that is echoed throughout the living room.
To establish the dining area, we installed a branching chandelier from Lindsey Adelman, which features translucent orbs, for an unobstructed view. A circular marble table from Holly Hunt is framed by four Dennis Miller chairs, which were reupholstered with Edelman Leather.
To give this spectacular home a fitting entrance, we sourced a Christa console table and a bench from Holly Hunt. Our client travels to New York for work once a month, and so we created an energetic workspace with a Desiron desk and an office chair from Design Within Reach. The final result is a dynamic and contemporary space that’s ready for our client’s next trip to New York.
